I'm not into the technical nitty gritty of what lens, camera and exposure was used in this and that, I prefer to swim in the subject matter, to swallow the guts and the beauty of it. No better subject to exercise this to the max than the work of Michael Keegan Dolan. I was first exposed to his work in Newcastle where the prophetic collapse of the Irish 'Tiger' was displayed in a wonderful and powerful mash up of physical theatre, dance, song and unique imagery. We met after the show and the relationship continues to where I am delighted to be asked to join in by photographing several pieces.
This is the show 'Rian' shortly before its first night opening. There was the usual high tensions, but the 3 levels of the Gaiety Theatre rose in standing ovation at the end.
The end look of 'Rian' was clean and green (above), yet it still had the soul in the rough when first show at Shawbrook (below) we all felt its magic and power that night.
